I’ve been reading fiction regularly since the age of eleven. My very first love was Jane Eyre. Since that time in my life, my parents used to look on proudly as I huddled in my room with a book while my cousins ran out to play, and my friends treated this predilection of mine with wary respect. I, of course, was proud of the effect my voracious reading had on others, while enjoying the many worlds of imaginative realities that these books created for me.
Now while these stories certainly played an important role in the early formation of my world view, it wasn’t until a year ago when I began taking writing fiction seriously that I noticed techniques, tricks and clever pacing in books that I read which started revealing layers to the art of story creation that I had never known existed before!
